I’ve been trying to communicate the idea of “the spaces in between” for a while now. The idea of the energy between two things, two living things. The potential. In the big sense - the spark or flow of energy when you lean into kiss someone for the first time, or when two dogs stand together faces side by side, that little gust of wind under an ear as it moves in response to the other dog’s energy. And the gentle energy between the flower petals of two different flowers growing next to each other, almost stretching to touch. That flow of energy that is always there, but unless you are looking for it, you don’t see. It’s so small, and SO powerful.
So this painting, which I’ve been laboring the shit out of, has been in the works for a while. After I painted it what feels liked 25 times, used the orbital sander to sand it down and spray paint it, I’m near the end.
(The last picture here is the original starting painting. I kept backing out of details to focus on the 2 flower petals in front)
